Bukit

Bukit Bali, a place branding project, introduced me to the world of branding during my university days. It allowed me to delve into a place close to my
heart - Bukit, the southern tip of Bali. "Bukit" means "hill" in Bali, and its unique landscape sets it apart from the rest, alongside its renowned surf spot. This project aimed to define Bukit through the eyes of locals, encouraging tourists to immerse themselves in the rich culture using various assets, such as language, imagery, and illustration. It aspires to create a desire within visitors
to explore and learn more about the unique traditions and way of life.

Bukit has many defining symbols, and this project required extensive research through interviews and an exploration of various brand identities to create
the final design. Formerly abandoned and existing primarily for seaweed and cassava farming, Bukit was rediscovered by surfers in the 1970s.The typeface used is inspired by the local Sanskrit language, while the icons are derived from elements that characterize Bukit as a distinct place in relation to the rest of Bali. This attention to detail and authenticity ensures that the branding captures the essence of the region.

Throughout this project, I learned the invaluable importance of research
and iteration within the design process. It set the tone for me as a designer, instilling a deep appreciation for a well-structured and thoughtful approach
to branding. The Bukit Bali project was a captivating journey that provided me with a profound understanding of the power of branding in capturing the spirit of a place and its people.
